Nearly 20 chickens died just a few days after they were distributed to the DUKOMEZANYE cooperative in Kabezi. Local veterinarians have tried to save the poultry, but without success. Pig farming could replace this poultry. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n On March 21 this year, the AEVCPV association distributed 40 chickens to one of its members, the DUKOMEZANYE cooperative in Kabezi. It was a batch of imported-breed chickens: 30 females and 10 males. Unfortunately, this project is already disappointing. Seventeen chickens have already died, while three others are in poor condition. <\/p>\n The efforts of local veterinarians to try to save this flock are not producing results. \u201cWe still don\u2019t know the root of the problem with our farm. All the veterinarians\u2019 efforts have been in vain,\u201d said David Majambere, head of the DUKOMEZANYE cooperative. \u201cMembers are discouraged,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n The problem is already known at the association level. Jean Marie Bigirimuremyi, president of AEVCPV, is reassuring the members of this cooperative. Soon, the association will be able to provide them with pigs so they can try pig farming. <\/p>\n The DUKOMEZANYE cooperative has more than 70 members.
